Yep, to my sorrow. I'm generally afraid to directly recommend books because I'm terrified that they won't work for the recommendee. From someone's positive review, though, I always figure it's an at-my-own-risk type thing, and I like reading books from authors who know what they are talking about.
What I've found in her books is that there seems to be a cultural complexity about things. And gender dynamics tend to be a little interesting. I think she plays around with gender characteristics. It has a completeness to it, from neighbor relationships to cultural reaction to water, whether in pool form or rain.
