Thanks! It wasn't my favourite read: I thought Steinbeck got carried away with the symbolism and didn't actually understand some of the symbols, but you had to admire his passion. I will read more by him.

I prefer The Grapes of Wrath to this one because I found it more accessible (less symbolism) and the characters were more ...... relateable? real? I could picture them better than the ones in EoE, but that might be because of Dorothea Lange's work.
