Previously the only way a review would show up in my update feed is if I went in and manually added or changed it. Call me paranoid but I don't believe this is a bug. I believe this is GR inserting themselves into our content and I feel very violated.
Staff response just came, because now some big time authors are seeing old blog posts reposting. Response from Meghan at https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/1597753-update-feed-issues?page=3#comment_88013360 says "Regarding the original issue, yes, there is a known bug with some comments not being posted to the update feed and we are still working on that issue. I'm really sorry about that.
Regarding the issue that came up in this thread regarding old reviews/items being posted to updates, thanks for reporting this! We've let our engineers know this is happening (though I think they might have noticed when Patrick Rothfuss's old blog posts started surfacing this morning...) and they'll get to work on it shortly. "
Interesting; it's been looking to me like each time a review from a friend or someone I follow has a new comment added, the review pops up in my feed again. What a pain, my feed is swamped!
I think it must be a bug. Otherwise it's a *very* ill-considered feature, and goodreads would *never* do anything ill-considered, would they (wink, wink)?
The date on the review is apparently being changed as well--in case anyone cares about their goodreads reviews anymore (date read so far seems to be intact).
*snark* so much for how amazon hiring all those new data mining scientists for goodreads are going to improve the reviews so the ones most "useful" to us show first instead of goodreads antiquated method of showing reviews from friends and followed reviewers first.
