Maybe you could contact her to purchase directly if she still has a blog, website, social media, publisher or other presence? Might be worth stalking said sites in case she is in the process of preparing to sell directly on her own site where she can prohibit all comments from anyone (particularly from anyone bullying her if that's what caused books to be pulled).
Who is she? And I'm always skeptical about the whole 'she was bullied' thing. Was she? Or did she get critical reviews that she couldn't handle? More than one author has gotten that, and fled.
I am happy to report she is still around!!! Unfortunately I still have to try to contact her and find out why book one and four are available but books two and three are not...
She is a very...umm...taste specific author and I was worried that she was bullied for it or that her books were banned (like Nenia had happen).
It's possible that the two books were banned...now I just have to get contact information for the author...she actually lives less than an hour away from me ;)
No author profile on goodreads or Amazon that might list a blog, Twitter, Facebook, website, etc.? Maybe on goodreads if had an author profile check for recent group comments and add a comment that you are interested in getting the apparently pulled books if anyone has info on how to contact author or what's up with the books, maybe ask that on goodreads book Q&A of relevant books, check indie retail sites that sell books that cater to that specific taste in case she moved books there? Try some of the aggregator/service sites like smashwords, lulu, etc. in case a version is there?
Amazon has been known to drop books or even pull part of a series back -- just ask Nenia Campbell about how Amazon dropped just one book from her series. But, I've never heard that Barnes and Noble or Powell's followed suit just because Amazon did.
Maybe she pulled them because changing or getting publisher? That sounds like best case scenario to me—although I'd expect author would have made some sort of announcement if it was good news.
