I've reached a point where I've grown very wary of this type of book--the dystopian where women/girls are subjugated (with a dash of Hunger Games). Often I read the description and initially think the book has an interesting premise, until I pull back and think, "But this is completely implausible." I guess my plausibility requirements have gone up.....

it's not the implausible thing though, it's completely the execution part. I generally appreciate it more when the author takes their time to build the setting as the characters and their actions make more sense.

Those are definitely important factors, and their absence would tend to pull me out of a story.

I get what you're saying about the execution...I've read about 4% of it yesterday, so far...I'm just thinking what the actual frick is going on here. This is the second review I've read about this book today and I'm feeling like I'm not going to be able to get through this one, at all. Lately, when it comes to actually reading a book, I can't push through, as I can with Audio. This will probably end up bringing down my percentage on netgalley...which blows.

You can write on your review that it didn't hold your interest and just rate it up until that point. Honestly it's not a bad book but I couldn't agree with any of the super enthusiastic 5 star reviews on Goodreads
