Congrats!
Question from an non-native English speaker: What's wrong with that sentence you pointed out? I'm just curious. Is the author non-native too? Because directly translated, that's how I would have said it in Norwegian. I know sentence structure differs, that's why I always have problem pointing out editing problems, because I read the sentence both in English and translated Norwegian, in a way. I don't know if that made sense. LOL

Totally get you. My problem with the sentence was to do with two things. Number 1. How did she try to call her mother if she didn't have a phone? And number 2. Why mention it at all? She went on to make a comment about Apple having ghost insurance. They were running away from a fairly life or death situation and she was talking about Apple products. It was so out of place it blew my mind!! :D

Ah, so it wasn't the sentence structure then. It was the fact that the sentence was there in the first place! LOL If it had to be there, it would have made more sense to say "she thought about calling", instead of trying. You can't try to call when you don't have a phone!
