I simultaneously recommend this book to both of you and worry that you won't like it as much as I have. BC - there's just the tiniest, minuscule amount of what we didn't get from the spellmans here, I think. I can't exactly put my finger on it, but it's what popped into my head.
Nothing better - if you decide to try it, the pace is a bit um...hilly (up/down/up), so if it starts to feel slow, try to get to the second half of the book; it gains momentum. :)
I´m really glad you liked this novel :). The picture is great. I really adored it´s french attitude and I would have loved more chapters from its point of view. Especially since I didn´t like some of the other characters that much (and there were just too many characters for my taste). But the picture, easily the best character in a novel ever :D.
Agreed on all fronts - I wasn't quite sure why she wasted a section at the beginning on the sheika when we never hear from her again, or the rock star. But the painting! Love! Especially the chapter that's just him saying "I'm still here. Remember, it's all about *moi*." Although for all his sassiness, I enjoyed his later chapters too, where he goes all philosophical.
Thank you so much for your review of this book - I don't think I'd have ever found it or looked twice at it if not for your posts. :)
It's relatively new, I think, so hopefully the library will have it under new releases. I loved the premise; there's a lot of story here about Annie and the other characters, but really, for me the story was about the art. I hope you enjoy it if you find a copy. And I hope you'll let me know either way! :D
