"Hitler´s Art Thief" sounds interesting. I´m fascinated by the Nazis and their realtionship with art and the art world ever since I have read Edward Dolnicks "The Forgers Spell".
I've only recently become hooked - after reading The Hotel on the Place Vendome, where there was a small section that talked about the rail cars full of art, and after seeing Monuments Men (which sort of disappointed me). When I read the synopsis of this one, it really fascinated me: Gurlitt was a man who simply did not exist on paper when he died and authorities found 1400 works of art worth 1.35 Billion dollars in his apartment - all from Nazi looting. I just hope the book lives up to the material.
Thanks - I'll keep that in mind. I bought Monuments Men in paperback to see if the movie really missed its potential the way I think it did, but I'll add Rape of Europa to my list too.
