4 stars for a book with that many problems? Wow! ;)

lol... there weren't actually that many problems - just that main character personality issue. And at least Violet, unlike the other MC, is likeable in most other respects. I just can't stand the whole over-bearing man she does nothing about. I HATE passive aggressive crap - plus the whole idea of a love triangle makes me predisposed towards being antagonistic.

But overall, it is a rather enjoyable cozy. And did I mention that the bookshop throws books at people?? I cannot stress enough how much I enjoyed that - it's almost worth a star all on its own. ;)

And we DO hate triangles! I especially don't like that waffling (or less than waffling?). And those devices annoy me too, wherein our MC doesn't even like or want one of the love interests, but she either doesn't say anything, or leads him to believe he's got a chance. Mainly in YA's though, since I haven't read as many cozies. And then she goes on an insufferable monologue about how terrible it is to have to choose between the two and how it sucks to have two guys in love with you, and blah, blah, blah...

Some of us don't even have an -angle, much less a triangle, to complain about... -_- Ahem...

Anyway, great review! I might add this cozy to my TBR depending on how you find the rest of the series.

Thank the good and great there haven't been any insufferable monologues with the whole 'woe is me, who to choose?' crap. Mostly she just hides every time one of them comes around and blushes when the other one does. But it's early in the series yet, I'll give it one more book before I fish or cut bait. ;)

Hmmm, can we all just have the magical bookshop mystery without the love story subplot ? But the love triangle makes it a no-go for me.

Yes! That would be excellent! Although I do enjoy the chemistry between Violet and David Rainwater; it's not overt, mushy, romance at all and given what else this writer has done that I've read, it never will be. But the bookstore is definitely the best part!
