I know - but last year's insanity was largely fuelled by the Bouchercon convention. Plus, this year's FOTL harvest was not quite as fruitful as previously. Might be the time of year we went this time (middle of summer=fewer people donating books, because they all went back up north).
*I* didn't pack the box. ::side-eyes MT:: When I packed last year's boxes, they were ALL lovingly encased in their own little bubble wrap envelopes.
This box had some bubble wrap, and a couple of beach towels and my neoprene tote bag (I used it for a carry-on over to the US, but ordered another one that strapped to my suitcase); so there was *some* padding. Fortunately, everything arrived safely.
Have you started any of them? (Not thinking about the Greene at all...). And how pretty is the edition of Howards End is on the landing?! If only I could get myself to reading another book by Hill.
What's Einstein's War about? It looks great.
And also, The Rook, ... I have this, too. Potential buddy read?
I've started and read a few, bit not Greene yet (a mixture of intimidation and not wanting to read it while I was distracted by holiday stuff). I'm loving that Howards End cover, and hoping the book lives up to it.
If it sounds interesting to you, let me know; I, in my infinite doofishness, forgot I bought the paperback version right before I left for the States. So, I have two copies. I'll send the paperback to you if you'd like?
I'd totally be up for a buddy read of The Rook! It's thick enough that I need the extra motivation to get started, and I think it sounds like one that would make a good buddy read. :D
:D ... so many inappropriate comments just begging to be made. XD
I am quite happy with the haul though - I'd be uncomfortable with hauls like the last one happening more than once a blue moon. Not to mention bankrupt to the shipping companies. o_O
I thought 44 pounds of books a very respectful haul - and quite a few new to me titles/authors, which is even better. Now fingers crossed I actually *like* them. XD
Unsurprisingly, I'll be particularly curious what you're going to make of the Carter Dickson and Ellis Peters, as well as the two "Wars" books, "The Elements of Murder", and Donna Leon. (I read the first Guido Brunetti book eons ago and have always wanted to go back to them, but -- so many books ...)
What is the green one to the left of Chloe Neill's "The Beyond"?
Go figure, I have one of those green Nero Wolfe omnibus editions, too! ("The Trumps" ... as in poker, of course. It's even got cute little card symbols on the spine.)
And I remembered you'd (favorably) reviewed one Carter Dickson book, just didn't remember which one and was hoping for onother one -- oh well! :)

Einstein's War is "How an unknown German and an Englishman on opposite sides of WWI created a scientific revolution" the full description is here: https://www.penguin.co.uk/books/312/312318/einstein-s-war/9780241376577.html

The rest I'm hoping to get to ... someday. :P
The green one is an old Rex Stout omni: Three doors to Death. Thought it might be a good introduction to Rex Stout.
