*Winces* Yep, know that feeling. I was all set to purchase a book a bit ago and happened to look over and see that...I already owned it! I think I'm going to have to go through another mass book entry extravaganza, I just don't know what I own anymore.
I've done this several times! Even though I have book databases! I finally had to start writing down books as I bought them because after the fourth duplicate, it just became embarrassing.
I've been looking at a personal book catalog computer program. I think that might help some. Once you reach a certain number of books, it is hard to keep track!
Yup, books breeding is a well known phenomenon around my place, too. I had to establish a routine of gifting books I have read to charity to get some control over this - but to get to that point it took months of analysis and persuading that it was the only way forward.
I've done a cull of my library over the course of the last year (library being a posh term for the smallest room in the house lined in bookcases) because I literally ran out of room and I'm up to 4 bags of books to give to the only library around here that takes donations. These are books I know I will never read again but it still took hours of self-persuasion and self-negotiation for each cull.
And I still don't have enough space for my books. :P
Yeah, we're desperately in need of more shelves. I've culled books in the past and there are a few in a box to take somewhere...but we may be due another hard look at what we need vs want to keep.
I understand about the TBR pile though; I swear mine are breeding! And I cannot tell you how much talking plants creep me out since that movie.
And I still don't have enough space for my books. :P
