I'm a kindle app user from Amazon...and i'm thinking it might be one of those SCAMS thats going around...let me know if you hear anymore Krissy
Of course! I've been keeping an eye on B&N's Nook News page (http://www.barnesandnoble.com/nook-blog/category/nook-news/) but I haven't seen anything about this issue posted on their site. But again there are sites with information about the UK -APP shut down like PC (http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2500329,00.asp) , and Lap which posted about the main Nook APPS ( http://www.laptopmag.com/articles/barnes-noble-shuttering-two-online-nook-stores-nook-apps) There are also pages about B&N's financial down fall and sales percentage plummet on other sites as well but those also question B&N's quiet withdrawal of their apps for Nook but it doesn't talk about the Nook itself. I'll be keeping an eye on it though to see what happens.
I have a Nook app on my computer and it seems to be working fine. I have a kobo e-reader and that is fine too, so I'm not sure what's going on...
Glad to hear from an actual user. I hate to be posting something if its not a legit issue.
Thank you Kate.

From what I'm seeing, it appears to be the UK Nook Store App for now. Here's the official UK site's announcement, complete with a link to a FAQ: http://www.nook.com/gb/notice
Thank you for the heads up Jen! Great info.

My nook devices and apps -- U.S. -- are working and I haven't gotten any notices. I'm not sure nook ever really got a foothold in U.K. I hope the U.S. nook stuff isn't ending. I've gradually weaned myself from kindle to nook and nook has a good academic foothold for textbooks on the local campuses. If it happens, I suppose I'll be stuck with backlit on demand options like U.K. shutdown then just go with kobo for new purchases. Some other U.S. devices shutdown but migrated to kobo; ideally nook would work out a kobo deal if shutting U.S. nook (and would be kicking themselves for spending huge sums fighting off Microsoft's attempt to gain nook as competition for google Play and iBooks).
Thank you Debbie for the information. I can see why its so good for you. I hope the rumors aren't true. I still haven't seen any other information other than what I've seen so I hope its just one of those things that go around.
