Good review. I like this one too and was glad to see a female in a hard role. I agree things slowly progression and some things become instant instead of having to work to get it. I loved Zander, but felt Rae needed more - maybe more time training and working to get everyone to accept her.
I never thought of the Shiftertowns being like the "hellmouth of buffyville, nothing happens outside the circle and it gets a little tedious". I see it now though and It is nice to get away.
I feel the shifter / shifter romance don't get as much build as the human / shifter romances do. I always feel like something is missing when I read the books with the shifter / shifter relationship. They are all good, but the human / shifters are my favorite matches to read.
Thanks Angel, I think we agree on a lot of that. From the progression and the time development, and the human vs shifter relationships. The buffy/hellmouth comment came from the whole journey out and realizing that it has been a central focus. Its the only way I could really sum that up for it to make sense. ha
