I forgot to write which ones I've read. Two of my all time favourite books are on this list; Popular Music from Vittula is hilarious in a very Swedish kind of way, and Let the Right One In is just a fantastic book, and an almost as good movie).
I've also read Astrid & Veronika (aka Let me Sing you Gentle Songs) and the Strindberg and Lagerlöf books are standard school reading here, so I read them with my kids when they got to them in school. And the 100 year old guy book is set just down the road from here, and it's a really really funny book.
Let the Right One In is one of them (not seen the film yet), and the other is The 100 Year Old Man, which was lent to me by a friend who raved about it. It sat on the shelf for a while and my husband (who rarely reads fiction) picked it up and read it pretty much in one sitting.
Haven't seen it, but also heard very mixed reviews. I did attend a reading by the author, in the old train station that features in it, and he should just be a stand up comedian, he's a riot.
