Ah, one of the Fernández Álvarez biographies! :) Is this, too, one of the reviews you wrote earlier and are now reposting here, or was this a "run-up read" (of sorts) to Philip II?
This is indeed one of my older reviews, one that I originally wrote five years ago. It's a translation of the book in the first link, though I believe they edited it down to conform to the requirements of the series in which it was published.
Thanks! That's what I suspected, based on the length -- editing down an almost 1000 page book to roughly a quarter that length in transposing it into another language would hardly deserve to be called a "translation" -- it would be more like an extended summary ... Though it's been known to have been done; BrokenTune recently came across a biography of Camus that, in its English version, was roughly only half the length of the original French -- the translator had left out all the content that he'd decided was of no interest to his English speaking readers.
Also, do you happen to know of which one of Fernández Álvarez works in Spanish this is a translation?
