Sounds kind of trope-ridden, not like you are kicking a puppy! I understand; there's conventions to every type of literature, so what distinguishes it the majority of the time is the writing, or the characterization, or the insight. If one goes for the surface level trope in any genre, it ends up being a 'meh.'
