I love hearing experiences of how books shape and move us. This was beautiful. Thanks for sharing.

This just made me smile. I was born in 1967 and have also been a Tolkein fan for about 30 years, ever since I had the role of the elf who says "Most astonishingly wonderful!" in a school district-wide play during the '74/'75 school year. Tolkein opened up new/old worlds for so many of us.

Wonderful, thanks for sharing with us.
I was also born in 1966, and have been a fan since I was ten. (Last of the Really Great Whangdoodles is great, I agree.)

Those are the covers of the edition of LOTR I got from the library. The Hobbit had the cover with the emu and pomegranate.
