OMG, I'm so dumb. I don't know how to paste a marker over the squares. Do we use something like Photoshop, or is there a tutorial or something? I'm used to . . .. . words. :head desk:
Linda, I use PicMonkey. I download the card to my computer, and then open pic monkey "edit" and when it asks for the image, I upload it from my computer. Then I use whatever overlays seem appropriate (there are a lot of them - I have a premium membership, but there are plenty available for the free memberships as well) and size them to fit within the squares. Then I save the image back to my computer with the same name so I'm always working with the same image to add more overlays on top of the squares.
Makes perfect sense! I have Photoshop, so I can do it that way, no problem. I didn't know if there was some BookLikes gadget that I didn't know about. Whoo hoo! I'm good to go!
(As my late husband used to say, simple pleasures for simple minds. . . . )
On the iPad, I use Penultimate app to scratch out or highlight text and images like on BINGO cards. Mostly cause it was free, works, made sense to grab pen or highlighter to do that, also had paper background choices like my favorite quad ruled, and I was tired of sorting thru iPad apps.
Can always print out the card and physically "x" off squares (or use any Halloween stickers you have ha body) then snap a cellphone/tablet photo of now marked card to share on booklikes ... with your cats, dogs and TBR piles in the shot of course.
Can you clarify "fall" into a good read if you have something specific in mind? Do you mean for it to have something to do with falling/heights/fall or falling in the title? Or am I free to interpret as I see fit?
Oooh, I can already think of a few favourites to re-read for this. Do short stories count? I've got plenty of those which would fit beautifully into some of the categories.
I totally love it! And I'm not even a horror reader, as you know. I also thought the card looks epic (including the little splash of blood....). I really can't wait to get started.
And thank you. I hope I enjoy it, too :D I got it free as a digital book, but I managed to make most of mine paperback books. (Monstrumologist and Vision are the exceptions as I don't want to drag out all my old issues, and I got free digital issues, so... those will be read.)
I'm still searching for Pumpkin, but other than that? I'm pretty much all set.
I have a couple of questions. I made my own graph of the card with just the texts and I'm filling in titles that I have on hand that I think might fit. Some are books I've already read, but not for a long time. Can I use those? Or do they have to be books/stories not yet read?
And connected to that, do we have to get our titles "approved," or just justify them?
Second this question. Because my BR is going to be a reread, and I've read the issues in the past year or so, but clearly some of the details were lost/forgotten. There's a big finish coming to my series, so I'm rereading a bunch of issues. *please, please be allowed...*
This works! I reviewed each issue of Vision separately and I can post a review of Volume 1, and I can post thoughts on the last issues - seven through ten and possibly eleven - when I reread those, although twelve is not out yet and won't be until October. I will post thoughts, but not count it as a review.
Got a few (maybe stupid) questions: Is this individual or are we placed on teams? How fast does this go- if something called once per week? Or go at your own speed? Are there page limits? Do I have to figure out the categories beforehand or can I pick as I go? (I'm used to the SOS Bingo challenges on Goodreads). I liked that is it. For now. Hehe.
This looks fun!
Okay that's what I was thinking, but wasn't 100% sure. Thanks! Just out of curiosity, since the two of you do this on your own time, and with prizes, do you take any contributions?
Saving the card now to have MT print for me on Monday. It's a beautiful card (again); thank you to Moonlight Murder and Obsidian Black Death for working on this and sharing it with all of us.
One quick question: is there a difference between "genre horror" and "classic horror"?
The card looks fantastic! I'm so excited to get started, and maybe clear out some of my tbr at the same time! :p

I've never done one of these but I'm going to try this one. I was going to ask about short stories because I know where to find a locked door story to fill it! Does this go on up to Halloween?

I've looked up a few categories now. I'll look forward to the suggestions for others! Now if I could just get my head around Magical Realism.
I was going with The Master and Margarita for Magical Realism but I also just noticed this may have a vampire element and there is a cat on the cover - so many potential squares this could cover....
My back-up option for magical realism will be Neil Gaiman.
I've also been considering Lukyanenko's Day Watch, the sequel to Night Watch.
Thanks for the nudge re Allen and Hoffman, I'll go and check them out, too.

Ooh, Neil Gaiman! Ocean at the End of the Lane was wonderful, is that magical realism?

I'd love to re-read that one anyway!

Oh, meant to ask. When does it count from? Can a book I'm reading now be used for example?

What if I've started it before then but finish and review after?

Okay, I'll be good. Just ironic that I've been reading two Horror books for Netgalley. I'll find others.

Thanks for hosting this game, you two!
My reads are scheduled up to the end of the year, but I may be able to work them into this card. I hope so, because I really dig those bookmarks. :)
@Moonlight: Would it be ok if I cropped your BookLikes Halloween Bingo 2016 graphic to make a banner out of it that we could all use for pre-game posts? If you'd rather I didn't that's TOTALLY understandable. It just occurred to me that it might be a nice way to distinguish our Bingo stacks from our other hauls and stacks...
It has lot's of info on the Bingo and some discussions and ideas of what people are looking to read.
There are also some buddy reads, and links.
Other than that, you'll probably see people posting the Bingo Card and their choices of books. It's been pretty awesome looking at what people have been picking so far.
Are you joining? Would be great to have you onboard. :)

The Murders at Astaire Castle (A Mac Faraday Mystery) - Would a book with a Charater in a book called (Wolfman) work for Vampires Vs. Werewolves
Does that make sense?

These categories are awesome!!!!!
Another friend wants to buddy read The Mostumologist, which I plan on using as my YA square. Can she count it as a BR if we read it together?
Thanks.
Also, I loved The Monstrumologist, Grim. I hope you enjoy it!

I may purchase it as a Kindle book if not because damn...
