I'm both looking forward to and afraid of reading Testaments. Like you, I read this book as a very young woman about the time it was originally published. And I took it as just dystopian fiction, good for a shiver, but not very plausible - I lived in a very insular world then. When I re-read it again this year, it was far more frightening.

Same, same, same. I reread it a few years ago when my oldest was in high school and it was deeply disturbing in a way it wasn't back in 87.
