That sounds interesting, but I don't know if the language would be a turn-off. I like historical fiction, but I don't read it as much because I tend to stay away from the books that have too much of that period language.

This definitely has period language so yes, it would probably detract from your enjoyment if you don't like that. The author has made a very good attempt to make the language sound like the Elizabethan era language.
