My book budget is already spent on my Audible subscription and trolling the HBP flagship store. I supplement with free books from my public library, in all formats - bound, audio, and digital - although their selection of e-books is pretty limited. There just isn't a void for Oyster to fill.
You just borrow and you're limited on what device you can read on. They also have a limited selection of books to choose from. I was also wondering how the authors get paid for something like this and their opinion of this type of service. If I could read on my eReader, I would check it out. But until then, I have to pass. My eyes can't handle reading on other devices. If you do it, please let us know your feedback.
You pay $9.95 a month and have unlimited access to as many books as you want. As you are reading then on their server, you don't lose them (unless you cancel your sub) but you can only read them on the app. You can read up to 10 books off line, so that's good.
There is a month free trial, so once I catch up on my Kindle books, perhaps I will try the month trial and see what I think.
I might find it useful, I also need to try to utilize the local library branches a little more to actually see what they offer. It seems as though they have a decent selection...spread around four counties or with ebooks.

Not to mention that their lgbt fiction section is almost non-existent.
