I read Unteachable by Leah Reader last month and while I liked the book I had a problem with all the sex scences. I haven't decided yet, if I want to read Black Iris. It sounds very interestering but I fear pages of pages about sex and when I read your review it seems like a legitimate fear.

Where did you read bad reviews about An Ember in the Ashes?! O.O I was apprehensive because I only heard good things and was worried it was overhyped. (Thankfully it was not).

I never read Unteachable, the whole student/teacher relationship thing really doesn't do it for me. It I liked the blurb of Black Iris, though I would recommend looking at a sample which should giv you a taste of the style. The writing is breath taking, the context and content very disturbing. It's not romantic sex (even though it's really hot).

I saw a number of less than postive reviews for Ember in the Ashes over on Goodreads and a fair few of the bloggers I follow on Twitter were disappointed with it, plus the hype worried me a bit too.
