I'm finishing up the last chapter as I type this and will say there was some good info about fecal transplants --had heard of them but didn't know the details-- and the condition Elvis 'may' have suffered from. Overall I enjoyed the book more than you did once I adjusted to Roach's approach to her subject, but it was frustrating reading if you were looking for solid science.
It was just frustrating because in the 300-some pages there is so little content. I guess I just can't get over my disappointment. Even the stuff about fecal transplants was mixed in to descriptions of hanging out with the doctor's family.
At least you got some ideas for party foods if you ever need to serve up something that looks like, um, you-know-what. Maybe she should have included some recipes. :P
It's not that there's no science to find in the book, it's that what's there is mixed in with too may asides. Recipes would definitely be an aside.
I actually read a book about octopuses that had recipes in it (I forget whether it was recipes or just a description of dishes).
