I read this after seeing the film adaptation (I think it was called Charlie). Clare Danes really does have the ugliest cry and that bastard Sol gives her such good reasons to demonstrate it week after week.

By now, Homeland must be on its, what, seventh episode? I am so behind and only up to the third one. After Dexter, I get the feeling Showtime just doesn't give a crap (haven't even seen the series finale yet, or even the few episodes before it, and I lack the energy to care). Does Homeland get any better? Breaking Bad has spoiled me so much.

Homeland needs to bring Brody back fast or Carrie is going to implode. If you're looking for some smart TV-try Masters of Sex. The two leads are fabulous-and sexually compatible...or should I say combustible?!

You mean, seven episodes later, Brody STILL hasn't returned? That's just stringing us along now. As for Masters of Sex, I'm hearing great things about it and its writing, so I'll give that a shot some time. Last new show I tried was Sleepy Hollow, and the pilot wasn't too bad (one of the few actually scary shows to startle me), but I haven't caught up all the way on that one, too. Books are more important!

They devoted an entire episode to him a few weeks ago, but Carrie is still in the dark. And her life is getting very complicated. It's getting better but it's still off the mark. I have given up on network TV but with all the news and cable shows, I still watch way too much.

Looks like, besides The Good Wife and Avatar (and possibly Masters of Sex), I won't be as into television as I used to be, at least until Game of Thrones comes back. Even The Walking Dead is getting tiresome, and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has yet to blow me away.

"That said, I do still wish humility were a giant tuna with which to knock some sense into him."
That sums my feelings up about that part of the book perfectly. Nicely done.
I read this in highschool and can still remember the sock to the stomach it was. I'd never read anything like this before and like you said, I struggled with my thoughts afterwards for a long time. Even today I can still remember a great deal of it quite vividly.

I would be a good book to pair with The Curious Incident.

That part took infinite patience to power through. And yeah, Keyes did something special with this book. The way it says so much in so little space knocked my socks off.

The Curious Incident and Flowers do go hand in hand, don't they? My conscience takes a hit every time I recommend them to people, knowing what downers they are.
