I really enjoyed The Duke's Tattoo -- I'm an easy sell when it comes to lots of subtle and not so subtle dick jokes -- but this was just a mess. I was sad because I chatted with Davis once and she was so gracious and lovely. Maybe it's just a sophomore slump?
I start off liking the humor but for whatever reason I grow really tired of it, I think because it never changes. Oh god, the middle of the back and forth was so tiring. I haven't had any contact with Davis but like you have only seen good things regarding her, probably why I feel bad not liking the book. I think her third book should be coming out this year? Maybe I'll try again.
Seriously, the on again off again thing became soooo tedious. She warns us in the title, but that doesn't make it more palatable. I would try again, given the strength of Duke's Tattoo, but I could completely understand just crying off. Alas, sometimes very lovely people write books that are not to my taste. If only the opposite weren't sometimes true as well.

Haha, yeah there are a couple people like that. I have a couple friends on GRs though that I trust for historical romance and they seem to love this series, so there is that. I don't know, I start off liking it but the writing/story doesn't evolve enough for me.
