Maybe it's time for me to retry this. Could not finish it. I definitely want to track down the short story that was the inspiration for The Birds that she wrote.

I have that one as an ARC ^_^

I just remember really hating the writing style, and it reminding me of Jane Eyre, which I loathed. (My friend in college agreed, calling it a romance without the good parts!) I see you're reading Wuthering Heights, though, and I adored that book!

It does remind me of Jane Eyre, in many, many ways. And I absolutely hear you about the lack of the good parts. I almost question what happens between them at night because there is NO intimacy to speak of. I do adore the writing though, it's so descriptively glorious.

That explains it, though. Despite the fact that I despise Jane Eyre - yes, still - I'll take Rebecca out of the library.
It IS and awesome book. Wholly underapreciated

I agree with everything (have you watched any of the movie-adaptations?)

I haven't, so I went into this totally blind.

OK, I think I'll shut up then now. I don't want to accidentially spoil something XD

LOL! Thank you! I'm slightly terrified that someone accidentally will and I'd be devastated. I'm getting to the point now where I'm starting to question EVERYTHING.

Yup - it's brilliant. One of my favourite books, although it does seem to be a bit of a Love/Hate one with a lot of people.

So far, I'm solidly at LOVE.

The opening line of Rebecca might just be my all-time favorite opening line. I love this book, too.

It is a fantastic line.
