I have had that feeling (of something missing/holes/gaps) with graphic novels before and I know it doesn't have to be the case (based on the truly stellar GNs I've read in the past). I've pondered trying this one, but I'm not totally sure.

Well, the illustrations do make this one worth picking up. I was really impressed with those. I suspect that this writer's background in print making caused him to focus more on the art than on the storytelling. I'll definitely look at the next on in this series to see if the storytelling improves.
