I sometimes wonder if a lot of non-fiction authors are overcompensating while attempting to not sound too scholarly. There's the ones who write like it's straight out of an academic journal, and the ones who make it so flowery and purple it reads like a historical novel, and seems only a tiny few can hit that happy medium.
Yes, I noticed that too. At least most of the time it's not too purple (well..I almost got used to the adjectives and the extreme cases like this with Hungary are rare...)
