As said, despite everything I quite enjoy them, though after reading two in a row I'll take a short break.
I've only read "Eye of Osiris" so far, but my feelings exactly. I quite like the characters -- AND the way the story is being built up. Not in Conan Doyle's league, but close enough to make for a nice change every now and then if you're in the mind for this sort of stuff.
