My university had a mid-19th and 20th century American History concentration; I took advantage and declared the concentration. I am one of the few people left in the program; in 2012, the new history advisor revamped the programs and got rid of the specializations. I just couldn't see myself staying committed to my degree program if I had to slog through the same periods of time that my high school history class covered. I would rather read books on particular topics from the early American period on my own...such as this book, which is going on the wish list.
