It *is* a pretty great book ... :) I'm so glad you liked it. And yes, Penman really does make the period come alive, doesn't she?
She does- she's amazing!

l loved this when I read it, though after a while I fell away from reading historical fiction
I go through phases. I binge read genres at times. I've come to just accept it.
I have started and stopped this book so many times. I think it will be my winter break goal. I am currently working my way through her Justin de Quincy series. It's too bad her publisher won't sign off on more of them. I loved her Henry and Eleanor trilogy (that turned into slightly more than three books). When Christ and His Saints Slept is one of my favorite historical novels.
I'm going to take a break and then finish the Welsh Trilogy I think. This book is worth the perseverance. I hope you like it! :)
I get into it and all I want to do is read it. I have to stop reading because I get nothing else done. My little people just aren't quite that self sufficient yet.
Oh I can definitely see that happening. We took a break in the middle of our move, so naturally I started reading. I reached one particularly tense part and my husband was like we need to go get the moving van and I was like 5 more minutes!! LOL and then I was in tears at the beach reading the first half of the book and finding out what happened to some characters. it is engrossing.
