I've had this one on my TBR for a while, but just haven't gotten around to it. I've heard pretty mixed reviews.

I can say its not for every one for sure. I had a hard time liking it but in the end, it really depends on you. Some say it depends on the mood you are in when you read it but to me, it's just alright.

I think that's probably why I've kept putting off reading it. From what I've read, the writing style and story structure make it a little more work to read, and even then the payoff seems uncertain. But who knows, there are lots of books that I've loved that other people didn't care for. It's the wonderful thing about books - they aren't one type fits all.

Yeah, the writing style needs to get used to it. It wasn't easy for me, especially the dialogue. McCarthy didn't really specify who is the one talking, even though 90% of the book is the man and his son talking but when there is a third person involve, it gets a bit confusing. Then there is also some parts the prose can be dull. But overall, its a fast reading book (even though I took my time) and can be done in one sitting.

Yeah, some books I like, not everyone care for. I just go what I feel when I read books.

I think that's why I picked this one up on audio after reading other reviews. Hoping that in that format, the narrator will be doing some of that interpretation (which character is speaking, etc) that will make the writing style less confusing.
