Spooky! (But I want to know what kind if owl it is).

It's tiny- probably no more than 6 or 7 inches tall. Judging from my Audubon field guide it has to be a Western Screech Owl - so cute with its little ear tufts!

We always go out at dusk, and with the max zoom on my camera I get really low resolution :(
Are you in Audubon NJ? If so, it probably is a screech owl. They're small and the only others, that I'm aware of, common to the area are Great-Horned's and they're much, much, bigger. I live on a large natural lake and get to see lots of wildlife, mostly birds.

Also, if you don't want to answer about location that's totally understandable. :)
Tiny with ear tufts. Definitely sounds like a screech owl. Saw whet owls are also really tiny (and unbelievably cute) but they don't have the ear tufts.

I'm in Northern California, the owl's about the size of my fist with tufts, so it must be a screech owl. I've seen barn owls around here too. Love them all!

Do love the terminator eye... Owl be back!
lol. It totally does look like the terminator. Hilarious.

And I love the barn owls. I've never seen one here, I've only seen two Great-Horned's and it was mostly luck and b/c they're huge, but I hear the screech's all the time. They're seriously cool birds, all owls. Maybe next time you can grab a better pic of her. :)
