Can't wait! And this was a wonderful review. Hope you enjoy the rest of the series.

You were the one to get me into these books in the first place! The only one in the series I'm a little leery about is The Game because of recent reviews by Moonlight Reader and Murder by Death. What did you think of it?

Of course I have many books to go before that one. Next up is A Monstrous Regiment of Women and I have 3 versions--audio, ebook, and paperback. I'll probably start it in January.

Despite not being terribly interested in India and not liking Kipling at all, I like the book and love the setting and connection to literature. There are parts of it that are rough - though that's true of many of them - and yes, the animal parts can be difficult if hunting, etc. really bother you. While I've never hunted, I can see the appeal - though I'm pretty sure I could never do it - and fox hunting, etc was so tied into the culture of the time.

Truthfully, the story bothers me but more about what man can do to other people. The toy room disgusts me and the person I'm talking about - you'll know when you read it - manipulates and uses people to such a disturbing degree. We all have our own things that bother us; it seems this book hits multiple ones.

Interesting observations. I will definitely be reading this when I get to that place in the series so I'm glad to have some forewarning about its content.

Glad you think it will help. Can't wait to hear what you think of Monstrous Regiment. It's an interesting one.
