Thank you for the link to the TED talk on self-compassion and self-esteem. It put into the words the mixed feelings I've had about the concept of self-esteem and how it used in every day language and thought in a potentially crippling way. I agree with the video that self-compassion was nurtured and internalised more when I was child but somehow, the idea slipped away as I get older. Also, I'm glad there are books like Skinny out there. So many people deal with that voice inside their head.

Yeah, I only began to figure it out recently. The link was actually sent to me by my therapist because, although I was diligent about my CBT exercises, it didn't seem to work. Practicing self-compassion was something we are not taught to do often and it actually hurts us a lot. I'm glad to have discovered it.
