No kidding. And I'm not really sure why, either. Those three pages basically just boil down to "Tanya was involved in stuff that's still classified years later."

I was lazy and didn't pay attention to the year in the scene header, at first. I was very confused by the reference to the "latter part of the war."

Oh, I think I just figured it out. I'm pretty sure this is the author's very clumsy attempt at foreshadowing. (Does it still count as foreshadowing if the author literally skips ahead into the future to tell readers something that's going to happen soon in the main story?)
