I'm kinda sad to see the end of the quotes/updates to this book.

I am, too! That's one of the downsides of mostly reading by audio. You don't have the opportunity to stop and savor the prose, or to chew over what's being said. I really enjoyed that with this book, even though it took me three weeks to read one 500 page book.

As much as I like audiobooks, there are some that I cannot read in that format because of exactly the need to savour the prose or go back and forth in the book to re-read things.

Yes. I've learned that some kinds of books are better in bound format. They just don't all work well on audio.

That book sounds bbrutal. Psychological warfare is horrid.

The subject matter is awful, but it seems to read as an educational text/warning to young women to be aware of how they can be manipulated and how their own naivete or desire to please can make them vulnerable. And ultimately, the strong sister triumphs, so it turns out well in the end.

If it is written as a warning for other women, it may not read well but it seems an admirable intention.
