Good to see a positive review of this author - I gave him a try a few years ago (just checked GR, and it was #9 I read) and was never inspired to move forward with him. Apparently the characterizations didn't do it for me. Is Rutledge still chatting to the ghost of the soldier he executed? Maybe I'll give him another go.
Hamish is still around, but wasn't intrusive in this one. (Occasionally he was useful, actually.)
