Sentences splices? What's that? Sounds like a monumental blunder, especially for W.W. Norton. Their books are usually good quality.
A sentence splice is two sentences that are shoved together. Usually this happens because a comma is used to join them, rather than a semi-colon.

Red pen moment then.
Yup. I was reading this at lunchtime yesterday, and I felt the itch. But A. I didn't have a red pen, and B. I'm reading on kindle. But I was re-writing it in my head to make reasonable sentences.
