YEAH! It was probably my favorite from the series. I'm excited for Adam's book but a little nervous since he seems like he is going to be a hard character to warm up to.
I actually really liked it! Yeah there was something a bit tiresome about the back and forth but for me, mostly not knowing what Jack's "deal" was with Mary.
I thought the way they were both damaged yet they worked it out together was beautifully done, especially the sex scene nearing the end when she comes to his house after discovering about the gifts (don't want to spoiler so I'll let you remember what I mean :P)
I love tortured heroes and sometimes when one is more damaged than the other it feels too much like one is fixing the other, here it was good that they both dealt with something that in a way was the same so they could relate to each other's problems/fears/darkness.
I think that was the point for me - too tortured and too traumatized. There was no levity, no humor, no light in that story for me...but to each their own :-)
Sometimes one needs a truly gloomy story. Well, I do! hehe
I rather not have these kind of books all the time but once in a while a great tortured hero/es are awesome :)
