My goodness, that 'Volvox Epidemic' creature is terrifying. Although in Bosch's painting, I've always seen the egg body and the head as completely separate entities, instead of one. Critique aside, grotesques and phantasmagorical mash-up creatures are the best things ever, thanks for sharing.

I have a large poster of The Garden of Earthly Delights on my wall, but I've always stayed away from spending too much time looking in the hellish areas because there are a lot of weird nightmare fuelish things wandering around there (though there's plenty of freakish stuff in the rest of the paintings too). However in the closeup on that article you can see what I call (or maybe remember someone else calling?) the Nun Garlic Clove, which I always think is funny.
We overanalyzed Bosch's pictures to death in art history class in high school, to a point that would have turned me off forever with pretty much every other artist ... but not Bosch; I only got more interested in him as a result. Bruegel, too, incidentally ...
