Did you get to read the book BEFORE the movie? I hate book movies--they ruin the books by not allowing you to create your own version of the characters the way you can when you only read the book. Plus the movie ruins the great ending!
Anyway...
I strongly recommend you skip Speaker for the Dead, and instead move over to Ender's Shadow and continue the story with the Shadow series. Ender's Shadow tells the same story as Ender's Game, but from Bean's POV. The rest of the Shadow series (some call them "the Bean books") follows the kids from Battle School back to Earth where they all become world leaders and great strategic military commanders. Very cool stuff.
Speaker for the Dead was pretty amazing, though it is *extremely* different.
I was not a huge fan of "the Bean books," admittedly, mostly because I really disliked Bean and being in his head was not a great place to be, personally.
People tend to really prefer one over the other, though, as you can probably tell by the comments. ;)
I indeed heard a lot of different opinions as to which book I should be reading next. So, I decided to put both books in the TBR bowl and just let fate decide. I'll probably try both of them some day and I'm looking forward to finding out which I like best.
