Great review! This sounds like an interesting series that would probably appeal to me. I’ve added the first book to my “TBR-When-Series-Complete” shelf.

I definitely know what you mean about how time can change our perception of books. I especially notice this with series books, when earlier books can seem so much better and more meaningful in light of their sequels.

Some books also stick with you more than you expect them to. I like to rate and review a book right after I finish it to capture my freshest opinions, but there are books I would have rated higher if I'd known I'd still be thinking about them months and even years down the road. There are also some books I would have rated lower for the opposite reason.

Thanks! It certainly is an interesting series. I don't know how many books there are going to be in the series, but I'm looking forward to them.

That is exactly what I meant. I rate my books immediately after reading and sometimes when I look back after a while I'm surprised because my feelings about it have completely changed. :)

I actually did a bit of research yesterday because I was wondering how long I would have to wait. From what I found, the third one is intended to be the final book and is in the editing stages. On the other hand, I also read that originally the first book was intended to be a standalone. So, even if the third book is intended as the last, who knows if it will stay that way. :)

Here’s the link where I read about the third book. At the bottom of his post the author says, “And on that note, I am back to editing the final installment in THE DIVINE CITIES – the third book CITY OF MIRACLES…”. http://robertjacksonbennett.com/blog/so-hey-maybe-you-should-buy-my-book

Thanks a lot. If the book already is in the editing stage, we may not have to wait too long. (I think there was almost a year and a half though between City of Stairs and City of Blades)

I hope you will enjoy it as much as I did!
