Out of curiosity (also: Spoilers ahead for those who haven't read the book)

One of the things that bothered me a bit about this book was that I felt it took quite long till Tristam admitted in the narration that he had feelings for other men while I suspected it quite early. It annoyed me a bit because to me it felt like something really obvious was kept from the reader. Was it the same for you? i.e. Did you also have some suspicions early on and if yes did it bother you?
(It sort of makes sense on a meta-level that being gay is not something that's easy for him to talk/write about but as said, as a reader I found it slightly frustrating)

I don't recall finding it very annoying. I had some suspicions early on, bur I think for me was it like he was still having problems admitting to himself and others about his sexuality. Based on what happened/the time it takes place it's understandable.
But I agree, from the readerviewpoint it indeed looks that way. But then, I think that many books use that device.

I do apologize for all typo's, but my iPad keeps changing words, as it thinks it knows beter than me what I'm trying to say (First world problems)

Yes you're right. I also once read a mystery where it was quite believable that the main character wouldn't figure out the secret (which also was that two guys were gay) because of the circumstances but it didn't make it less frustrating to read. Though I probably didn't mind as much because the book was much shorter.

(Never apologize to me for typos...I manage enough without being able to blame a tablet...I can spell everything wrong while working on my laptop)
