I don't think I have ever met anyone that can make a fake id....lol but in movies and book, everyone knows someone...

The easy way is to make a large cardboard cutout that looks like an ID with relevant info and a hole to stick your face in. Hold it up and take a picture. If done well enough this can fool a bartender or a bouncer, but not likely a cop (a cop will usually grab the ID number and call it in) and oh also the holographic design on all of them. You need a professional with dedicated equipment to have any chance at duplicating that. Sooo no. This book sounds kinda lame, I agree.
