I voted for it purely based on the cover. :)

Isn't it pretty? =D Simple, yet elegant.

I'm one of the few who feels this series is an okay read but would benefit from more consistency when it comes to character portrayal; the plot seems to dictate their behavior too often for me to fully enjoy the storytelling. That said, 'Mortal Arts' was the most satisfying of the three Lady Darby books I've read, so I voted for it. I hope you enjoy it. :)

Thanks! I've only read the first chapter so far, but am liking it. Although I don't remember Kiera Darby having a sense of humor, or maybe she's powered through her gloominess from the first book or something. Ah well.

I'd say that's a 'no' for this book. The plot tackles a serious subject and also gives the reader further insights into Kiera's psyche, including her relationship with her brother and deceased father, the circumstances of her marriage and the fallout following her husband's death, and how these are affecting her feelings towards Gage. I had a few quibbles, but was fully engaged with the story of her mentor/friend.
