This one is not great. I found the beginning very confusing. Why do we need to know all that stuff about the sisters and Miss M?

I really didnĀ“t care about the sisters. Especially Carrie Louise with her otherwordly behaviour was downright annoying. Especially in that scene, in which the husband gets threatened with a pistol.

And I guess she could have found another way to get Miss Marple involved with the family.
Definitely not my favorite, either.

I think the story of the sisters and Miss Marple was just a flashback to their joint past (as an explanation why Miss Marple might want to get involved) ... essentially, out of friendship -- and it also highlights her special importance to the sisters, because they were friends from vastly different social backgrounds and she was nevertheless respected as equal by them, which in their youth would not have been a given. (The Joan Hickson episode actually does a fairly good job at getting this bit across. It's still not my favorite adaption, either ... which is largely down to Christie's own source material, though.)

I've already forgotten the murderer in this one, and I just read it last month. Definitely a weak Christie from my perspective as well.
