I agree -- the second half of the book was better than the first. Then again, I also think opening the book with the perspective Wentworth chose was a clever move. Either way, I'm glad you liked it!

I liked the opening too. I just thought the first 100-120 pages were a bit too drawn out. But then, it was perfect for setting the scene of this book :)
In the first part, for a while I thought the book was going to fall in a bracket I don't particularly care for (and I unfortunately can't name it without spoiling the book, but I probably don't have to). I was glad I was not only wrong about that, but also that it took the turn it did in the end.

I´m not sure, but I think I know what you mean. I was afraid that this book would have a similar kind of story as another book I have just recently read. And I can´t name this book without spoiling things. We have a similar problem there, Themis ;).
But then I was pleasantly surprised that the story went in a whole other direction.
We absolutely are in the same boat! :)

I thought that the mechanics of this one were really good. The turning point with that first murder just ratchets the story up about five levels.
