Hello Kat, nice to meet you! I love that Austen quote as well (the whole novel, in fact -- and all of Austen's novels) ... and I so agree about books' power to transport us to a different place and time.

Great choices for "desert island" books; of all of Jane Austen's novels P&P is probably my favorite, and I'm a big fan of Sherlock Holmes / Arthur Conan Doyle as well.

Have you read Carol Goodman's "Lake of Dead Languages"? It's been on my TBR for a while now, and from the description I have great hopes I'll like it a lot.

Oh, and ... 'nother reader who distinctly prefers physical books to ebooks! :)
Hello! It's nice to meet you too!

I love all of Austen's novels too - Persuasion isn't given enough exposure and it's a fantastic novel!

What's your favorite Holmes story?

I have read Lake of Dead Languages! It's one of my favorite books! I reviewed it a few years ago, but it's definitely one I would read again. Let me know what you think of it!

Physical books forever! ;)
Favorite Holmes? Hmmm. Novels: "The Hound of the Baskervilles", no contest. Short stories: Probably "A Scandal in Bohemia" (for Irene Adler alone) and after that, in no particular order, "The Red-Headed League", "Silver Blaze", "The Blue Carbuncle", "The Speckled Band", "The Priory School", "The Master Blackmailer", "The Musgrave Ritual", "The Empty House", "The Naval Treaty" -- and "The Yellow Face", for its clear stand against racism.

And, I agree about Jane Austen's "Persuasion". It can't be praised highly enough!
Anyone who quotes Persuasion gets a follow from me! :)
Awesome! Thanks for following me!

...and there is a Christie on the shelf, too. :D
Hah. Indeed!
I love Agatha Christie! I have a few of her books lined up to read so there will definitely be more reviews of her work in the future!
Already looking forward to them!

Hi Kat! Welcome to BookLikes (sorry if it's a super late welcome).

You and I share 2 out of 3 of our desert island picks - Doyle and Austen will always go where I go. And I too prefer paper books over digital. :)

And as Jennifer said above, your window nook.. ooohhhh.... so awesome, love love love. ❤️
Thank you so much! It's wonderful to meet you!

I'm glad you like my choices for desert island reads and thank you for the window nook love!
