I noticed earlier someone was re-blogging this very post but I did *not* have this reminder on my dashboard, even I did *not* see the re-blog before. Dunno if this makes a difference or not?
Checked again, and in the meantime several new blog post went live, but definitely no reminder for me. In theory I love the new feature, so far I have probs to test it in reality. :D
Sorry. We'll look into this. Please clear your cache in browser's settings and let us know if that helped. You can also mail us at contact@booklikes.com. The reminder should be visible on Dash, no page refresh needed as then post will be uploaded automatically.
I like that the notifications also show up in my browser tab - it's nice not to have to click on the tab to know that there are new posts waiting for me. :)
We've made some updates and test and it seems to be working now for firefox, chrome, ios, windows. It can be that at the time no new posts appeared on your Dashboard. Open Dashboard in new tab and give it some time, after several minutes or once first posts start to appear (when your followings start posting them on BL), the reminder should pop up on Dashboard. Have in mind that if you refresh the Dashboard, the reminder will stay invisible. The reminder is on only on Dash.
I've got you beat - one notification I had showed that I had over 24,000 new posts waiting to be read. Considering that I had only just clicked a notification for one new post, for that to have been true they'd all have had to have been written in a couple minutes. I'm not sure what happened, but I'm sooo glad it was just a glitch, lol.
I don't see it anywhere on my tab. I'm using Internet Explorer, let me try Chrome. Okay, I'm not seeing anything on any browser, IE, Firefox or Chrome. I don't see any kind of bar like on the screenshot above. Is it just supposed to be there when I click Dahsboard? I still don't see it after clearing browsing history on Chrome either. There's just nothing there.
It's not automatically on your dashboard. Say you have BookLikes open in a tab in your browser and you go off and do something else for a while - maybe look at LOL Cats or something on another tab. If someone publishes a new post in that time, you should see the number of new posts both on your BookLikes tab and at the top of all the posts on your Dashboard. If you click the notification at the top of your Dashboard, the new post(s) should load at the top.
If you close your BookLikes tab and reopen it, it's just going to open all the posts. For people who do completely close out of BookLikes and reopen only when they want to go read posts, this newest thing isn't very useful, but for people who keep BookLikes open in a tab, it's nice.
Ahh okay, I'm going to try that then and just leave it up for a while. Does it have to be the exact post I'm on or just any post in general? I've had 8 notifications since I've been on and haven't seen anything at the top like that at all. I'm going to keep trying and keep it open. I usually have it up for hours even when I'm not on but haven't seen anything yet :(
If I'm understanding correctly: you need to be on the dashboard in general. The notifications are just for new posts that have been written - explicitly telling you how many new posts you'd see if you refreshed your dashboard (and, if you click the notification, it automatically loads those new posts at the top). It sounds like you're not seeing anything like that, though.
Have you seen anything like in Booklikes' first screenshot? That's what it looks like. They don't have a screenshot of the tab when you have new post notifications, but it's just a number (ex: 8 Booklikes Dashboard)
For me too :D Took a bit & of course I don´t know if BookLikes made other changes, but clearing cache was a step into the right direction. It´s pretty neat actually.
Ooh, just go it to work. Seems like there's a bit of a delay because I had 8 updates and it didn't do anything but when I came back to my pc that box was finally there with 18 notifications. Nice :D Good for if you leave page up but I'm betting a lot of people will never even see it.
